Annual General Meeting 1 November 2013
Paphos still remembers the exclusive Russian Gala Dinner which was held in February 2012. It was organized by the newly formed Cyprus Russian Association of Pafos, in an effort to raise funds for the construction of the first Russian Orthodox Church in Cyprus with its see in Limassol. This event drew together people from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds as well as dignitaries such as government Ministers, local representatives and officials from the Russian Embassy.
The Association was formed by a group of inspired and visionary individuals from the expatriate community of Paphos led by the Russian speakers, as well as members of the local community, active in a variety of fields, such as commerce, education, medicine, law, business and finance and the creative arts. The Association received its official registration from the Cyprus Ministry of The Interior in April 2013.
Soon after the first successful event and despite the fact that the association was still in its infancy, many activities were organized, including the Children’s International Festival, where the children’s choir “Camerton”, formed and conducted by Mrs. Anna Izmailova, member of the Board, made its debut.
The Association, since its inception, had the support and co-operation of the Paphos Municipality, The Russian Embassy and Cultural Centre, The Russian Orthodox Centre, The International School of Paphos and other local organizations, as well as the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry where its offices are located.
